THE ICELAND SERIES
The first comment I received about the series was,
"They are so subdued."
Two trips to Iceland left an indelible impression of being on another planet. For a painter, Iceland is not about color. Iceland is about large and small shapes, bright and dull, and the affects of “thin” light on the environment. Depth is a glare. Sand beaches are black lava pebbles. My paintings reflect those impressions.
